Korky Paul (Hamish Vigne Christie Paul) was born in Harare, Zimbabwe in 1951 and enjoyed a happy childhood in the African Bushveld. He studied Fine Arts at Durban School of Art and Film Animation at California Institute of Fine Arts. He began his career in advertising before becoming an illustrator of children’s books. He has illustrated very successful books for Oxford University Press, Random House, Penguin and many other publishers. He is most known for his illustration of the series "Winnie the Witch" which has sold more than five million copies worldwide in over thirty languages. He lives in Oxford, U.K. and spends summers with his family in Kythera. His work, characteristically executed with bright watercolour paint, pen and inks, is recognisable by an anarchic yet detailed style.
