ABSORBED (Damn, I miss snowboarding)

solo show

Follow Your Art gallery presents the solo exhibition of Theo Vranas entitled ABSORBED (Damn, I miss snowboarding). These new photo series shows the artist exploring the limits of self and mind, setting human struggles against beautiful landscapes. This particular work was presented for the first time in November 2023 at The Blender Gallery (Glyfada) and now continues its journey to the artist's favorite place, Kythera, as a collaboration between the two art spaces.
How do the processes of our inner world write in our form and how are the desire, the loss, the mourning, the unsatisfied, the unfulfilled reflected in our present?
What dead-end impulses and impasses indicate the way we position our bodies and psyches in each of our activities, from the week's duties to an excursion? What do those around us perceive about our inner explosions from our clothing choices? And what do we ourselves grasp from seeing it on social networking platforms?
In the era of ever-increasing self-promotion through social media, of scrolling down from the moment we open our eyes, of relentless comparison of ourselves with a fictitious world that is published on social media under direction, Theo Vranas responds aptly through his new individual exhibition.
ABSORBED (Damn, I miss snowboarding) is a photographic narrative, with humor and sensitivity. A story of his staged self-portraits. A diary. One year. Of one man. And a reflection: In the transition from the old world to the new, what of ourselves will remain the same?
